DCAF, in collaboration with the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), organised the thirteenth edition of the joint UNOG-DCAF seminar series. The seminar addressed the phenomenon of violent extremism, focusing in particular on the role of the Internet and social media platforms. Speakers and panellists underlined the significance of innovative multi-stakeholder initiatives in order to effectively and sustainably address violent extremism online. Participants further confirmed the need for the adoption of comprehensive and locally-owned approaches that are grounded in the principles of good governance, human rights and the rule of law.
Attendance at the UNOG-DCAF seminar was quite high, with a diverse and active representation of governments, civil society and Internet experts.
